Okay, I've been meaning to do this for a while, so I might as well do it now. I'm thinking of taking over the next screening night, if that's cool with you guys. The playlist will feature such classics as:
These are some of the greatest bad movies made good. I figure it would be easier to take over a screening night than anything else, so let me know if/when I can. and for anyone who doesn't know, it means Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). Also we should make the dark heresy noobs watch instead of playing in the foyer. Or make them watch "Manos, the Hands of Fate" somewhere else, preferably out of screaming distance. -------------------- When Stephen Hawking guest starred on the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Descent", he was taken on a guided tour of the set. Pausing in front of the warp core set piece, he remarked, "I'm working on that"
![]() I'm reminded of a D&D discussion on another forum, during which we questioned the number of level 0 children it would take to kill a level 20 fighter, given the scenario that the fighter is on the Plane of Infinite Homicidal Children. I believe the agreed upon total was just over 6 billion (fewer if they died in such a manner that the fighter would be covered in a pile of corpses that eventually suffocates him, I believe the number for this scenario was decided to be a mere 10000), before the discussion degraded into arguments about how the fighter should be best built to specifically survive as long as possible. The ability to sleep 8 hours per day, while still being constantly attacked by children, was involved. |

I'd rather use what screening nights we have left to finish off some of the shows we've been watching through so far.
This sounds better suited to a weekend event. It may be very hard to fit in somewhere this semester with Manifest and the Video Games Competition, not to mention that there will be no mid semester break. Maybe something for after the semester? -------------------- "We aren't men disguised as dogs. We're wolves disguised as men." -- Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade

I'd like to do this, but I agree somewhat with Fonzie, it'd probably be better as a weekend event.

The only current series in rotation are:
Sengoku Basara, with 4 episodes left. Tales of the Abyss, with 22 episodes left. World Destruction, with 3 episodes left. Zan Sayonara Setsubou Sensei, with x episodes left. (I don't know how long this series is) Rideback, with 6 episodes left. -------------------- - TheHeadSage

Okay, so when would be good, where would we do it, and who would turn up?

Okay, now that we're into the 'summer' program, when's a good night for me to take over? Or should I/we try to organise it as a weekend event? I'd prefer it to be in LT1, and if we do it on a weekend I can expand the playlist and put in shorts between movies.

I'd probably run it as a weekend event. We can discuss the date this Friday.

Okay, we are set (or going to be set) for saturday the 21st of november. I am currently getting my sister to dig out her MST3K dvds so I can borrow/copy them to give us an expanded playlist, including the first shorts collection. I shall post a playlist once I know what I have available.
I know there's little chance of this, but any requests? -------------------- When Stephen Hawking guest starred on the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Descent", he was taken on a guided tour of the set. Pausing in front of the warp core set piece, he remarked, "I'm working on that"

My only requests are Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and Deathstalker, and the Warriors from Hell.
However, I'm not sure if I'll be there, so I won't be too disappointed if you don't play them. -------------------- Some twenty years ago, the gods put down their feet, So firmly in to the ground that no man of sword nor pen, could ever change the rules upon which The very fundament of metal was made. --The Book of Heavy Metal Hold your head up high, Raise your fist up in the air Play metal, Louder than Hell! --Die for Metal |

Current playlist is as follows, but possibly not in this order:
Although I'm pretty sure this will put us well past midnight, so something may have to go. If I can't find another place to get the disc polished (Mr. Magic is gone) we'll have to cut out Mitchell. I also may cut Santa Claus if Dean doesn't show up. Also, can this be moved to the news thread? I can't start a topic there. -------------------- When Stephen Hawking guest starred on the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Descent", he was taken on a guided tour of the set. This event is slotted into Saturday the 6th of February. Pending on confirmation of the booking from Deakin. So don't advertise it until I confirm it, which should be next week.

Well, the fail train has finally come in, and I think I've managed to host the least succesful club event ever. An hour into the event someone other than me showed up. We then proceeded to give up and leave 30 minutes later. As it turns out, LT1 is fine for anime but shit for MST3K. Therefore we have decided to redo the event sometime later at someone's house, not mine because I don't have a decent TV. So, if anyone has a decent setup and some comfy couches, please volunteer. Maybe then we can work out a date when everyone's not busy with work/family/self-inflicted wounds to avoid my screening night.
