Ok, not going to talk about past stuff.

Aparantly it will be released in Australia in late 2006. Though, I only assume this after reading a few promotions in various stores. Most recently, in the latest JB-HiFi catalogue. If this is the case, then it will be awesome.

Finding it hard to put one on pre-order. Might not get one at launch afterall.. Ah well, no loss..

More Wiimote details from IGN:

- Controller will use AA batteries.
- Battery life to last 30-60 hours.
- Will use Bluetooth on a 2.4GHz bandwith to communicate with the console.
- Features 6KB of "non-volatile" memory, possibly for speaker
- Uses a SYNCHRO button to identify Wii controllers that can be used with the console.
- LEDs show which player is communicating with the console and illustrate battery life.
- A built-in rumble motor can be turned on or off

Also, Ubisoft have since revamped some of Red Steel's engine after all the criticismn from E3. Also it will support 4-player splitscreen action. And I quote:

"[You'll] have up to four players. If they play together in split screens we can only say that the fight will not be only on screen."

My vote was yes, but I'll be waiting till it comes down and I see what games come out.

I'll more than likely get it just for Zelda and Metroid, as well as a few other select games.

Meh I am thinking about it, it just depends on how much cash I will have and what features they offer on it when it comes out here. I am looking forward to the retro game section more they anything. I hope they do have a good selection of games to pick from.

Aparantly many gaming forums uncovered a page at the Nintendo Wii website that wasn't supposed to be online yet, but the guy who made the site forgot to put it offline, and have since gone offline.

The page was about the Nintendo WiFi service for the Wii, as well as some new games. From it the following was featured at the page/s:

- The new Tony Hill and Super Smash Brothers game will have WiFi support (i.e. playable online).
- The WiFi service will be free (mirroring the DS)
- More WiiParty games include WiiMusic, which I reckon is a karaoke/orchestra game.
- The same Friends Code system used in the DS will be used.

Nintendo WiFi on the Wii will basically be the same with the DS. It's their wireless internet service which at the moment allows users with a DS to play games wirelessly through their computer against other people online for free. The neat thing about this is that you don't need a wireless internet card installed on your PC. All you need is a wireless USB adapter from Nintendo. In America and Japan, they have Nintendo WiFi hotspots that you can bring you DS along and play against other people for free. I know that some of the McDonalds Restaurant have them in America

So in breif, Nintendo WiFi is their internet service, which includes online gaming and chat.

Thanks for that Nick, That would be awesome if they had that here and if it came with the retro games package, just imagine you are board on the bus you download chrono trigger and you start playing before you get to uni. I guess it would be a good thing for the Wii as well.

Here's a neat article about a recent news article being posted at Nintendo's official site, and the cryptic message left afterwards.

http://www.gamingtarget.com/article.php?artid=5784

If they've solved the puzzle, and it's true, then October 2nd will be the official launch date for the Nintendo Wii, which would probably be in Japan.

So, given Nintendo's "14 week" launch window, the latest we'll (probably) get the Nintendo Wii is January 8th 2007.

Sounds good to me.

I was hoping for the Wii to come out here before Christmas, I think it would be a much butter marketing strategy then January 8 or even in 2007 in general as all the mom?s and dad?s will be recovering form Christmas and a new school season will be approaching

I did say that it was the latest we'd probably get it. Highly doubt we'd get it then. Maybe in November or December.

ooo.. more leaked specs, that looks like it's been repeated with modified infos

http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=8802

If you trade in a PS2 and 24 games at EB Games, you can get a PS3 for $699!.. What a bargain!

If you trade in the same at EB Games, you can get $300 off the Nintendo Wii.

Interesting read nikiwu, it looks like the Wii will be quite the beastie little machine, I was kind of hoping they where going to implement some VOIP stuff that would be cool as some of the roomers suggested earlier in the year but no big deal

MK: Armageddon will be released for the Wii and will utilise the control mechanism.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/722/722491p1.html

Rampage: Total Destruction is to be released for the Wii.

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=66455

Ubisoft plan to release seven (yes seven) games for the Wii during their launch window. They include:

- Red Steel
- Rayman Raving Rabbits
- Far Cry
- Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
- Monster 4x4 World Circuit
- Open Season, an adventure game based on the upcoming CG film by Sony Pictures Animation
- GT Pro Series

http://wii.ign.com/articles/723/723080p1.html

Prince of Persia is also planned to be released for the Wii early next year, which would be awesome with the controller.

http://www.jeuxpo.com/afficher_news-3544.html

In other non-Wii related gaming News, Atari have confirmed that they will not be releasing any games for the PS3 until 2007. SNK have also confirmed that they will not be developing for the PS3 until 2009!!.

Yeah I had a chat to one of the head guys of the games devision at JB-Hi Fi today and he says that a lot of girls have been enquiring about the Wii just for the older 2D games, and the Wii sounds better and better the more I here about it, I just hope it doesn?t fail like the DC did. As probably one of the harshest critics of the Wii last year I must say that Nintendo really have done their job and research on this console and I really hope that they do succeed as its pretty much make it or brake it time for them on the console department.

I think my sister would like it, due to the fact that she still plays on the SNES and Mega Drive in my room from time to time (she's currently playing Donkey Kong Country 2 on the SNES, and Bubsy on the Mega Drive). She'll enjoy the Wiimote and it's games as well.

Aparantly, Nintendo have bumped up their Wii production line to about 5 million units before launch, due to all the positive response of the console at E3. However, it's reported that only the black and white version of the console will be available at launch. I was planning on getting a blue one myself, but now I'll probably get a White one.

The console itself will unlikely be region-free. However, the lock itself is unrelated to hardware, so a firmware update would probably allow users to play import games and other stuff.

Portable gamecube?.. Maybe.

note: the image is fake, but the rumors have been circuling.

Yeah the Wii is gathering a lot of hype I mainly want it for the Retro games as I keep repeating but I really do want it for that factor, and mainly for the Sega games I really hope that they port the Saturn games to it.
