Full Version: The best and worst in cosplay
The D-ARGH Forums > General Forums > General Discussion
Dark
We've all seen it. People, otherwise normal(mostly) average everyday folk, with the insatiable urge to honer they favorite characters of film, cell or render by creating costumes to parade in front of fellow enthusiast and the general fandom. The vast majority manage to capture at least some spirit of their chosen idle. And thats fine, somewhat healthy fun. Others however...

There are some people, the few, the talented, who's homage captures the true essence. People who's devotion to detail and costuming goes beyond the norm. People who look like the character as opposed to people dressed up as the character.

There are others though...

A few brave (or stupid) souls who fail so spectacularly that they burn their horrific visage upon the collective.

So dig deep into the net and/or your collections and share the best and worst in cosplay.

To kick things off, something a little risky, but superbly pulled off.

Fonzie
A pretty good one of Tira:

Miyazaki
This thread has Uncanny Valley Effect written all over it.

The more accurate they get, the more scary the cosplay.

I'll just leave this here.

Dark's- Not that hard to do so would it be class as a real attempt? Still she's a looker
Fronzie- Creepy, took me a few seconds to remember were the character came form, but really good shoot at it.
L-Sama- They did a good job, more some then others.

Its incredible what some people can do, this is one of if not the best reason to good to things like manifest.

Darks one is more impressive for getting the surroundings right as well as the look of the character.

I've been impressed by some of the Samus costumes.

Samus

Zero Suit

Check out more of the first Samus (which is awesome) here and her site, unfortunately not all her links work.
The second Samus and Zero Suit Samus are both the same girl, and she does some good work, check out her site here

The amount of time and money people put into this stuff is incredible, but well worth it.

Hell yeah. Anyone see the Gundam?
chromefox
A few, some are boxes and the more hard core ones are full metal armor, do they buy this stuff? Is their a company which sells this, I know that some of the company's that own the rights to it sell merchandise eg Squall's [Final Fantasy 8] ring, necklace and even his gun-sword where sold at one point.
Lortarg
I haven't seen any that are made of metal, usually plastic/foam/cardboard.

Also in regards to the FF gear, at least 1 company has been told to stop making them, as they didn't have a license to do so.
chromefox
While I have only seen the photos of them I am most likely mixing up metal and plastic, plastic can look really convincing these days. Also With FF, it depends on the company, some are allowed to do it.

What the? Yeah I agree some of those costums are great but should a kid beallowed to were them? Some look heavy and very resrictive in how she can walk or move.
